Trying to come up with today’s daily challenge seemed at first, well, a challenge. I was sitting around, listening to music when all of a sudden – it hit me. Today’s challenge is designed for empowerment; so if you’re ready for it – let’s proceed.
This is the first ’empowerment’ related challenge to date, but it’s not a difficult one. Appropriately, it’s a task related to music.
Your challenge is to find five songs that speak to you on a personal level. These songs should inspire you, make you feel energized and strong and empowered. It might take a while for you to narrow it down to five; it might be a stretch to even find five, though that’s not a lot. Some of the songs might be obvious choices, while others may not be the most mainstream selections. It doesn’t matter – as long as they speak to you and make you feel empowered to do whatever you want, to change your life, to succeed.
After you’ve selected these five, I want you to pick one as your anthem. Yes, I said anthem. This should be the one that speaks the loudest to you, the one that makes you want to get out of bed in the morning or get up off the couch and DO something. It empowers, motivates and inspires you to be the best version of yourself that you can be.
If you have trouble picking just one as your top anthem, allow yourself a little wiggle room and pick two. Now, remember that song. You can listen to it whenever you get down; listen to it in the mornings as you’re getting up to motivate you for the day; listen to it when you have work to do to prepare you for the task(s) at hand. Listen to it whenever you feel you need it – it’s more important than you may think. These songs may change as your musical tastes change, but the important thing is that they always inspire and empower you. If that song no longer does that for you, it’s time to pick another one.
My anthems, by the way, are two recent-hit selections: Demi Lovato’s “Skyscraper” and Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up.” (The Beatles’ “Let It Be” is a third.)
What’s your anthem?
