Hello! Welcome to my website; I use this place as sort of a catch-all for anything non-sports-related that I want to do. From movie and book reviews to stories of my various travels; inspirational quotes, websites I’ve found interesting, maybe even a recipe or two, plus maybe a few product reviews here and there. Honestly – who knows what else! I love writing and have also now started to enter the vlogging world, so expect a little bit of that here as well from time to time. I want to keep my options open!

I guess I should start by telling you a little bit about me, the woman behind this site. If you haven’t already guessed it, my name is Melissa Burgess. I’m a 30-year-old woman living in the Queen City (Buffalo, NY) who loves writing, traveling, reading and hockey, among many other things! My end goal is to use my writing to better both myself and the world I live in, and to have fun while doing so.

As a little bit of background, I graduated from SUNY Buffalo State College in 2012 with a degree in journalism, minoring in leadership. I’ve interned at The Buffalo News as well as the American Red Cross (Blood Service Division) and currently work in development and communications. I also cover women’s sports (namely the NWHL) for The Victory Press and write about the Buffalo Sabres over at Die By The Blade. I also work for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres of the OJHL and write features for a local men’s college hockey team. (I guess this the part where I should say: This blog reflects only my personal opinions and does not reflect the view of my employers.)
