Movie Review: Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

One of the newest films in the movie industry today is the just-released Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters film, starring (among others) Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Jake Abel and Stanley Tucci. This movie is a sequel to Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, which was released in 2010, and is based off the second book in Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series. Overall, I thought the film was good, but I was definitely thrown off at parts that were changed or eliminated from the book, and select scenes that seemed completely overdramatized for the film. Please note that this review is not completely spoiler-free, though I’ll try to keep it spoiler-free as much as possible & will note when a spoiler is coming up.

As I prepare for a (probable) upcoming trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in September, I realized something. Project 365: An Overview

Project 365 is something that’s been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. I’ve made a few feeble attempts at it before, but I never seem to stick to it. I’ve decided to make another go at it, this time incorporating social media – and this blog – into the twist of things.

If you haven’t already figured it out, Project 365 is very simple. Basically, you take one photo each day for a year. It can be anything, from where you went to something you ate or a person you spoke to or anything. It’s designed to tell a story about your life, all the while improving your photography skills and making you think. Since you can only choose one photo for each day, it better be a good one!

I decided to begin this journey on July 6, 2013. It’ll take me through until July 6, 2014 to complete this task, but I’d really like to stick to it. I’ve created an Instagram account specifically for my Project 365 photos: follow it @mk_project365. I’ve also incorporated them so they’ll show up in the sidebar of this blog so you can see them here.

Any of you guys have a Project 365 going? How is it going for you? I’d love to share my photos with you guys and see your photos in return.

Stay tuned!

Book Review: “Suicide Notes”

You might be thinking – wow, what a depressing book! I promise, however, that Suicide Notes, a novel written by Michael Thomas Ford and first published in 2010, is not nearly as depressing as the title sounds. Instead, it’s a wonderfully-written story with a plot twist that you probably won’t see coming, and it’s definitely a read that I would recommend.
