Periscope Your Way Around The Globe

11125388_10204603946242671_797934970_nOne minute, I’m sitting on the pier in Chicago, watching the sun set over Lake Michigan. Two minutes later, I’m walking to the bus stop in Hong Kong. Then I’m sailing on the Hudson River, passing the Statue of Liberty and looking back at that gorgeous Manhattan skyline. Next thing I know, I’m in Italy, strolling through the streets and listening to live music.

All the while, I’m sitting on my couch here in Buffalo, New York. It’s not magic or sorcery; I’m not a time traveler, or a “Jumper.” I’ve simply got a device in my hands and a lovely little app called Periscope, that can take me all over the globe without even getting up off my perch.

One Hundred Words

Today’s writing prompt was again taken from the Internet. It was posted back in March 2015:

This week, write an essay using exactly one hundred words. I think this a good topic, and there’s probably quite a bit I could write about this one. It’s certainly a challenge to write an “essay” in just 100 words, but here’s my attempt at it.

I think that I’m really taking that a step higher lately and really working on forming my own opinions about topics.

Have you ever sat down and thought about the things that you believe in? I’m not just talking about religion, though that is part of it. I’m talking about ethics, personal beliefs, eating habits, politics, etc. Have you ever actually sat down and thought about those things?

A Weekend in the 412: Easter in Pittsburgh

11146265_10204422160498141_3980595832906960450_nLast weekend, I ventured out for my first-ever Easter weekend away from home — off to the sweet spot of the 412, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

This was far from my first time in the ‘Burgh, though my traveling companion (my significant other) had never really been to the city, aside from driving through. I was eager and excited to show off as many things as I could about this wonderful city that I’ve been visiting since I was a child.
