Day 9- Quickly jot down four verbs, four adjectives, and four nouns. Write a poem using all 12 words.

verbs: run, climb, jump, fall

adjectives: fast, beautiful, bright, happy

nouns: mountain, sunset, television, lake

Aaaand here’s my poem:

Taking that first step is never simple,

But I will go, I will climb.

Ascend the mountain, no matter how steep,

For the chance to enjoy the view of the

Beautiful sunset that will hang low in the evening.

I will run,

Run, run, run,

So I don’t miss out on this bright, grand view.

Scale the mountain by the lake as fast as I can,

Breathe it all in for the chance to revive.

Although I can’t be certain what will happen

When I jump down from my deep ascent,

In this moment, I am happy.

I will not fall, I will not kneel down, I will not give in.

This beautiful moment is mine, all mine.

This is something

You cannot see on television.

In all its beauty and grandeur,

This experience is all mine,

And I will take it, gladly.

Day 8- Write a cinquain on a topic of your choice.

(Yes, I had to look up what a cinquain is. I’m not good with these syllable-dependent poems, but I’m trying!)

Darkness,

Engulfs like fire,

I am alone, somber.

Inescapable solitude,

No hope.

Day 7- Take a walk until you find a tree you identify with, then write a poem using the tree as a metaphor for yourself or your life.

As the frost begins to spread,

The snow, cold, pressed all around me,

My leaves fall off,

Branches hang empty,

I am dead.

I am dead.

Knowing that spring will

Bring

A rebirth,

I just have to get there.

Survive until then,

Make it through this harsh time,

Soon I will bloom,

Soon,

I will bloom again

With colors bright and strong,

Power mighty,

I will bloom again.

I just have to

Get through this harsh cold.

Day 6- Write a poem of any length incorporating every word from your latest Facebook status.

Today is a challenge,

But also a gift – after all

Isn’t that why they call it

The present?

But even when the day is rough,

And all hope seems lost,

And things seem dark,

There is good in every day.

You have to be your own light,

To lead the path, to show the way,

Please, please remember

You deserve so much more than this life has given you,

And you’re going to get it someday.

Today may be difficult,

It may not be a gift after all, or at least

It might not seem that way sometimes.

But I get by,

Reminding myself that

I am not one of them, I am not part of the darkness,

I’m part of the light and though I may not shine today,

I’ll burn brightly

Eventually.
