LUSH Product Reviews: Bath Bombs, Face Masks & More!

The LUSH Cosmetics store closest to my house recently reopened after renovations! This is great news for everyone (well, except my wallet, which will feel the pain.) Naturally, I had to stop by and check out the “new” store and pick up some more items as well!

I bought two items: a new bath bomb, “Lava Lamp,” which I’d never seen in the stores before; and “Mask of Magnaminty” face & body mask. I also picked up a sample of “No Drought,” LUSH’s dry shampoo. Here’s my quick review of these items!

The Lava Lamp bath bomb was great! I absolutely loved the citrus scent; it left my skin – and my bathroom – smelling great. Like most LUSH bath bombs I’ve tried, it also left my skin incredibly smooth. Most importantly though, it was relaxing! That’s what I buy bath bombs for – a chance to pop one in the tub and “lush” out for a few minutes to chill out. It lets me shed the stress of my day/week/month and take some time for myself.

Anyways, back to this one. I was a little confused when the orange parts of the bath bomb melted away and left the purple parts, which then slowly melted into the water. It turns out the purple is actually cocoa butter! I’d buy this one again.

The Mask of Magnaminty is… quite minty! The peppermint scent hits you as soon as you open the container. The texture is a little strange – it’s not smooth like some other masks I’ve used but had a grainy feeling to it. It was definitely an adjustment for me, but once I had the mask on my face (and arms), it didn’t really bother me.

I’ve used the mask a few times, mostly on my face. I love how smooth it leaves my skin! I have some redness in my face but it seems to do a good job of evening that out. I usually leave it on for about 10 minutes before washing it off with warm water and a soft washcloth. I wasn’t sure how often to use this mask, so I asked the LUSH folks on Twitter – they said anywhere between one and three times per week is ideal. So far I’ve done it twice a week and it’s fantastic!

(Maybe next time I go, I’ll check out some of their new fresh face masks. They were actually already out of stock of all of them, despite the store only have been open four days!)

Finally, the No Drought dry shampoo. First, let me just say: this stuff is kind of messy. I mean, I don’t know what I was expecting, considering it’s a powder you’re basically dumping on your head. But I was lucky to not get it all over myself while trying to work quickly with it in the morning before work.

That being said, it didn’t really come with instructions since it was just a free sample. I had no idea how much to use, or what to do with it! I ended up sprinkling a little on top of my head and working it in. I feel like it did *something* but my hair still looked greasy. I’ve still got a little of my sample left, but I’m not sure if I’ll buy it in the long run. It might just not be for me!
